Help the UNF Counseling Center Today

BCH Interim Dean, Mei Zhao, Ph.D. is matching all gifts across Brooks College of Health Giving Day projects, dollar for dollar, up to $2,600 total. Double your impact today!

The UNF Counseling Center offers a variety of options for our students and your gift of any size helps bring these programs to life. Now, more than ever, we need your help to meet the cost of additional staff required to help our students seeking mental health counseling — especially as the need for our services is on the rise.

Student Health Services Mission

The Counseling Center's mission is to enhance students' total educational experience by providing a confidential and supportive environment where student concerns can be shared and explored. Center services assist students with their personal development and enhance their potential for academic success. The purpose of the Counseling Center is to provide mental health services to the university community, including assessment and referrals, individual and group counseling, and crisis intervention to currently enrolled UNF students.

More than just Traditional Counseling

The UNF EDMT (Eating Disorders Management Team) is a group of specialized clinicians at the Counseling Center who meet weekly to discuss students identified with eating or body image concerns. These clinicians have clinical experience and competency in the area of eating disorders. The EDMT's role is to provide oversight to students who have eating or body image concerns, discuss progress and make recommendations.

Can Art be Therapy?

Absolutely! Since art therapy's goal is very different from typical art-making, art skills are not required. The focus in art therapy is on the process, not the product. Participants are not trying to create an aesthetically pleasing image. Instead, they are creating an image around an issue to explore visually, process and gain insight. UNF Art Therapy groups are a great way to combine the benefits and experience of art and group therapy.
