About Us
The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) works closely with students to support their experiential learning experiences through faculty-mentored research, scholarship and creative activities (RSCA). In addition to connecting students with research experiences, the OUR also offers competitive funding to support undergraduate RSCA and travel to discipline-specific conferences to present their findings, as well as on-campus symposia and professional development workshops to strengthen their communication skills and expand their academic portfolios.
Last year, the OUR funded 21 research grant proposals submitted by students and their faculty mentors ($40,000) and 35 conference presentation travel awards ($17,250). Additionally, more than 250 presentations took place at student research symposia held on the UNF campus.
Student Success
UNF has a long history of supporting undergraduate research. Studies and experience show that actively engaging in undergraduate research or special projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor will expand students’ intellect, strengthen their resume or curriculum vitae (CV), and enhance their marketable skills. Feedback from UNF graduates indicates that their participation in RSCA as an undergraduate student made a positive impact in helping to achieve their career goals.
Why Your Support is Important
The vision of the Office of Undergraduate Research is to foster a campus-wide culture in which student success is promoted through undergraduate RSCA. As the number of students involved in the high-impact practice of RSCA increases, so does the need for donations to support training and conference presentation funding, on-campus symposia, and professional development workshops.
How Your Donations Make a Difference
Your gifts of any size will support undergraduate student RSCA and student success through experiential learning. Specifically, funds will support summer undergraduate RSCA stipends, which would allow students to concentrate on their research experiences during the summer without the need to also work at a job. Funds will also support conference presentation travel awards for students attending conferences in their respective disciplines.
