About the UNF Botanical Garden
The award-winning Botanical Garden is a transformative place where students, faculty, staff and community members can connect with and learn from nature. Our land and water ecosystems — home to Sawmill Slough's native flora and several essential endangered plant and wildlife species — are rich in unrealized research and teaching opportunities. Our developed campus core garden features over 1,500 plant species, 23 garden displays and 10 gold-certified Florida-Friendly Landscapes.
Connections with Nature
The gardens are outdoor classrooms providing hands-on learning opportunities to create a transformational learning experience. For example, the recently dedicated Setzer Family Healing Garden, nested within the Brooks College of Health, aims to meet visitors' physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.
Why Your Support is Important
In 2019, Independent School Management conducted a survey and found that over 65% of college-bound students revealed the college atmosphere, building maintenance and grounds appearance created a culture and sense of community. Your generosity will allow us to further the social and emotional connections between nature and the human soul.
How Your Donations Make a Difference
Your donations have led to the most extensive education, research collaboration and contribution to our efforts in recent history, with a donation of a world-class plant collection to be featured next year near Boathouse Lake. Stay tuned! For 24 hours, we invite you, your family, friends and your network to participate. Every gift helps us bloom and complete our mission. This day of giving is one of the many ways you can make a real difference.
