Department of Physical Therapy Mission

BCH Interim Dean, Mei Zhao, Ph.D. is matching all gifts across Brooks College of Health Giving Day projects, dollar for dollar, up to $2,600 total. Double your impact today!

The mission of the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of North Florida is to provide exemplary education offered at any stage of a physical therapy career; to be responsive to the needs of our profession and community; to engage in scientific inquiry that will improve the lives of patients. The Department of Physical Therapy creates a positive learning environment that supports student achievement through its commitment to Integrity, Courage, Excellence, Justice, Connection and Lifelong Learning.

UNF Doctor of Physical Therapy Student Success

The faculty are committed to preparing UNF Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students to meet the needs of patients, their families and their communities. Our curriculum combines classroom learning and hands-on experiencing working one-on-one with licensed PTs throughout Jacksonville and beyond. Once they complete the curriculum, they must sit for the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE) before beginning their careers. UNF DPT students have passed the NPTE at rates that meet or exceed the national average. The Program boasts this success due to its strong faculty and curriculum. We also encourage our students to take advantage of many other forms of NPTE preparation, including review courses and practice exams.

Support Student Test Prep

More than 99% of students who score 600 or above on the practice exam pass the NPTE on their first attempt. Your donation of $79 gives our students access to two officially sanctioned practice exams, providing students with valuable feedback and direction in their preparation for success. Your donation will have an immediate and tangible benefit to students.  This has the effect of getting UNF DPT graduates in hospitals and clinics sooner where they can start having a positive impact on the lives of patients recovering from illness and injury.
